Two lesser-known components of a roof are the associated soffits and fascias. A fascia is a long board that is mounted between the edge of the roof and the outer wall of your home. There are several reasons why fascias are important factors in terms of roof design. First, they add a pleasing visual element. More importantly, fascias are used to support vital mechanisms such as gutters and downspouts. Many fascias are made of wood although more modern alternatives will often use materials such as uPVC (a type of durable vinyl).

Soffits are equally important. A soffit is located directly beneath the fascia and it extends to the wall of the home. Once again, soffits perform an aesthetic function. They help to hide rafters and other construction elements that would otherwise remain exposed to the naked eye. This feature provides any wood with an additional layer of protection from the elements.

Soffits also allow air to circulate between the lower layer of the roof and the home thanks to a series of perforated vents that are normally present. Should air not be allowed to flow in such a manner, water may begin to condense within any voids. This can lead to serious issues such as mould and decaying wood.

We are happy to address any requirements dealing with fascias or soffits. Perhaps your current components are not functioning properly or they have succumbed to the elements. You might need to replace these pieces during an upcoming construction project. There can even be instances when animals have built a nest and damage has resulted.

These are three of the numerous situations that we are fully capable of addressing. Once again, our fascias and soffits are available in a wide array of styles, colours and materials. We can address common maintenance tasks while we are also happy to replace all existing portions if necessary. Please give us a call or send across an email to schedule a consultation at your convenience.
